I have a couple of questions in regards to my External Hard Drive that I have hooked up to my 9242 PVR...

1. After I go to my PVR listing and select External Hard Drive and the listing of events on the Hard Drive come up, is there a shortcut button to press on the remote to go to the bottom of the list, or do you have scroll through all of the events? Or better yet can you reorganize the list to show the earliest date at the top and newest at the bottom?

2. Is there a way to restore a group of events back to the PVR from the External Hard Drive, or do you have to do one by one?

Thanks for in advance for any assistance.

Current Specs?

Could someone post the specs for an external hard drive for a 9242? Are there specific current models that are recommended? Why doesn't Bell offer these drives as an accessory any more? I know they used to have them for sale at their website.

I realize I could probably find this information if I were to look through all the hundreds of posts here but I don't have that much time or patience.

Thanks.

Wallman - from the main menu select the EDIT option on the right then select all the boxes of the programs you wish to restore

You can always use the SORT or GROUP options in the EHD program list to aid in the long scroll process

on one of my remotes I hit the # or Search button & it takes me to the bottom - but I forget if it is in the 9242 HD or the EHD program list

Thank you for reply..When you say on the Main Menu click on the Edit button, which main menu do you mean..I have checked both the External Hard Drive screen and the multimedia-external hard drive screens and neither have an edit button.

Also I am having another issue which I hope isn't something serious, but when I go to archive shows, I select a whole month, so for example August 1 to
30th and after it finishes, I go into the external hard drive only August 1st and 30th shows are there, all the shows in between aren't....Any ideas?

Thanks again for the help

EHD problem with new 9242

I recently had to replace my 9242 because sat 82 would not come in anymore. Now when I hook up my EHD to the new 9242 it asks me to format the drive. Is there any way to use my original EHD with my new Bell reciever? Bell tells me there is now way to do it.

Both receivers need to be on the same 'active' account for it to work, so if you still have the defective receiver, just ask Bell to re-activate it so you can do what you want.

If you have shipped it back, you should be able to transfer the files onto a PC using a Linux Boot CD, then format the EHD and transfer them back using the Linux CD again.

Question on 3 strikes

Hi All:

I am looking at changing my current set up to have two 9241 receivers and one external hard drive.
I would like to be able to frequently record on one of the 9241 receivers and then move the hard drive to the other to watch the recorded shows.

Is it true what I have read in some of the posts that you can only do this three times prior to the hard drive being re-formatted?

thanks so much

5800 HD as external drive for 9241

Anyone ever used their 5800 hd as an external usb drive so they can copy their programs to the internal drive?

It powers up, but it wants to reformat, my 9200 drive works.

Is the partition format different from the 5800 to the 9241 ?

Well logic dictates they are different because the 5100/5800/5900 record directly to the drive but using the same drive as an External, the receiver will be 'archiving' to it.

Using USB Flash Drive on a 6131 receiver

I know a couple of people that have 6131s and turned them into PVRs with USB flash drives. The first one used a 128Gig USB flash drive and has been using it for awhile now. The second one just bought a 64Gig USB flash drive today from Futureshop and turned his 6131 into a PVR.

I checked the Bell site and it says the minimum disk size is 50Gig which before used to be 80Gig.

But it says something about a minimum of 7200 RPMs but does affect a USB flash?

Could there be consequences in the future if one uses a flash drive to turn the receiver into a PVR? Can it mess up the 6131?

Well I tried the 64Gig Flash drive:

It works well with SD but not HD. Very glitchy and pixelation.

One thing I found strange. It says 8 Hours of HD available and 55 Hours of SD.

I recorded 8 minutes in SD and it said I had 54:18 left. I recorded 8 minutes not 42 minutes.

So then, I used a 500 Gig Hard drive and still had the same descrepancy with the count down of the available hours.

Hi All...Me again...So I am experiencing this problem again but can be more specific with what is going on.

I have a Seagate 2TB External Hard Drive..What was happening is that I would copy a month's worth of show over to it, so about 50-60 hours of programming, and it seemed to transfer fine, but when I go the external hard drive it would only have the last day of the month's shows, and nothing else transferred.

After watching a number of shows I then went and tried to copy five shows at a time for a different month and got about 40 shows transferred over no problem and then the next time it only transferred the last 2 show of five shows....then I started transferring one show at a time and it did one show and then the next one it didn't...Now very time it said that it transferred successfully.

Currrently my EHD has 1180 hours free (SD)...so I don't think it is full.

Has anyone had this problem or know what it could be???

Thanks for any assistance you can give.
