I know videotron wont accept outside boxes but will it work if im buying it from someone who bought it from videotron with proof and all?

Yes. Don't hesitate to ask for the serial number and call Videotron to verify it before purchasing, when in doubt.

Also, if the previous owner has an outstanding balance or if the box was rented or if the box hasn't been de-activated from his account, you most likely won't be able to activate it,
