I thought I'd come around and make a review for Eastlink Rural Wireless Hi Speed Internet. For a long time around here we were looking into faster internet speeds, last August, Eastlink came around and hooked up the Wireless Hi Speed internet for us. It did take a while for them to come and hook up the internet, took them a little over a month, because when they did come the "couldn't get the signal". They came a total of 3 times before the finally got a signal, it resulted to them putting up a wooden pole and put the antenna on it, then run a cable to the house. The cable outside is a blue ethernet cable, until it gets to the little box on the side of the house it is an "outdoor FTP cable" (thats what it says on it anyway :p). The system uses Motorola Canopy wireless.

we weren't impressed of how long it took to hook us up, but the service they're delivering for our little rural home is excellent.

The speeds advertised on Eastlink.ca for Rural Wireless Interent show...
Download speeds up to 1.5Mbps
Upload speeds up to 500Kbps
5MB web space (ha funny)
5 Email addresses
Uncapped internet access

$46.95/mo

I liked the uncapped part, since before we had 3G internet 5GB cap

However, that's what the ad says, the 5MB web space is a joke i'll never use it, but we bought it for the internet access. Here is what we're getting just now when I did a test before making this post:

Excellent, first ISP i ever heard of that give download speeds higher than you're paying for :p I can't complain. According to "My Results" on speedtest.net the lowest speed test we got was 1.46Mbps down and 0.40Mbps up, which in itself is not bad either, plus on average the test are above 2.75Mbps down.

Good job eastlink thanks for the service!

I would LOVE to have an awesome internet connection with a good uplink so I could run my own server here at home instead of outsourcing and sending my money around the world for VPS server I buy

Anyway, not a reality, I'm stuck with Eastlink Wireless 1.5Mbps down and 0.5Mbps up...

It's midnight now, almost 1AM and I did a test

Not really any complaints other than I wish I had faster speeds, I want cable so bad here.
