I have a used DVR530 that I picked up a month or so back.... what I am noticing is that when I record items they seems to start late. For example, I go into the guide and choose to record Dora the Explorer for my daughter. When we go to play it, it is missing the first 2-3 minutes of the show.

Is there a setting that I am missing that determines how early or late this recording starts from the actual time of the program?

Thanks.

I looked at the Treehouse schedule and noticed that not all programmes start on the half hour or hour. When you watch it live does it sometimes start "early"? If so, that's the issue. If not, I hope someone else can help you. There may be an "auto pad" setting on the PVR or you could manually extend the recording (early). Not all IPGs are accurate to the minute.

Vader - I think it's a Treehouse scheduling thing: We've recorded tons of shows for our kids, including Diego, Backyardigans, Thomas, Franklin, etc, and quite often (1 in 10?) the first minute is missing on the recording.

I've never noticed more than a couple of seconds on any other channel.

It is possible to set the timer to start recording earlier earlier - but then the recording takes it's name from the show listed before the one you want, and you end up with extra listings in the DVR list.

Hope that helps...

Thanks Guys... guess that must be it. Just seems odd that almost every Treehouse recording I make is off. Had it happen with some sports on TSN as well.....

Kevin, could you give me a hint as to how I wold set it up to start recording earlier?

Thanks,

I'm assuming you have it set as a daily timer, so:

You need to "edit" the event timer - this gives you the option of setting start & end times, choose weekly/daily recording, etc.

I think it's under the "timers" list - I'm not in front of the TV right now - choose "options" then "timers''

If you're scanning the guide and hit the record button (ie, not a daily scheduled timer) the same steps apply after you tell it to record.

Hope that helps,
Kevin

this isnt specificly a comment on the 530 but on my 505 if I have set a auto-tune it will always switch to the channel about 10-20 seconds after the show starts.

eg, autotune for a show at 7pm
the autotune notificiation pops up, I let it run down the 1 minute, I watch the time on the screen and yup...the clock shows 7pm but the receiver has not switched channels yet. 10-20 seconds later it does.

I know its a small issue, but can be frustrating somethimes. So now I just hit the enter button as soon as the autotune pops up
