So I just picked up the DSR 605 and called Shaw twice to activate it.

The first agent stated that you could plug in a USB HD and it would work... The second stated that it will use the eSata port and that you will have to buy it through shaw direct...

So far the guide is laggy just like the 630 but its small and looks allot better than the 505 in the bedroom... Oh and it came with 00.13 installed...

What are SD's future plans for the unactivated ports?

Anybody got any good info on the future plans for the Ethernet, eSata and USB ports. It kills me that the hardware is capable, but the access is crippled by a decision not to unleash the powers of the box. I think over in Shaw's Cable STB world they are far more willing to open up the access, (MOCA and the like) What's the deal SD?

My opinion, since they have to do software development themselves, they want to take their time at it.

I'd get the box working right before adding features
