I am buying a new TV (Panasonic plasma TCP55VT60). I already have about an 8 year old Denon AVR1707 receiver that I am using with my current TV/surround system. I don't know much about receivers and would like to know whether I should purchase a new one with the new TV. If so, what features should I look for? If there is a thread that discusses this, I'd be happy to have it pointed out. Thanks.

The biggest differences on the new receivers are primarily HDMI and speaker calibration like Audyssey. 7.x and more formats than DD/DTS.

If you have any interest in the Blu-ray format - you should.
Since they introduced new audio formats (above regular DD/DTS) that would be best handled over HDMI (a connector your Denon lacks).

AirPlay support is only needed in a household where Apple
iProducts are used for playback and no AppleTV is present.

I would prefer the AVR supports MHL.
And maybe HDMI 2.0 if 4K support in the future is desired...
