Could someone please help me out on this. I have a PVR in my living room and subscribe to digital t.v. Half of my stations, that I pay for, don't work half the time, so when I record something, it is 2 or 3 minutes, then not available. I have a digital box in my other room, no problem ever with it, could it be the PVR box? Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks,

Are you saying that you see the "not available" notice on screen? If so, you probably have something blocking the return signal and you have an SDV issue. See post 10 of the FAQ below:

If you have recording issues, perform a reboot of the PVR and check the signal strength and S/N ratio on the channel in question. Both items are covered in the following FAQ:

You don't state the model of the PVR, but if it's the 8300, check out the following firmware thread. Read post 1 thoroughly.

You may wish to try swapping the STB with the PVR to see if it's the signal or the PVR, although sometimes the PVR requires more signal than the STB.

Go to channel 100 (or any ROD channel) and see if you can watch anything on demand.. I had this problem with a second hand box I purchased once. The box would not obtain an IP and was essentially just receiving.. As suggested above already, try from another outlet to see if it's a signal issue, otherwise your box may be bad. There are more and more SDV channels these days, so if your box can't request them, you will always get this message. Good luck.
