I'm curious because my wife and I have been discussing them over the course of the last few days.

Do many people use these Deal sites and if so what has been your experience. What I'm curious about is?

• Have you taken advantage of the deals?
• Have you signed up for multiple deal sites?
• Is anyone better than another?
• Can and have you opted out?

I've used WagJag and GroupOn. I don't find too many deals that really interest us, so it's not heavy use. We've never had any issues with redeeming the deals. I think the type we like the most are the ones where you spend $20 for a $40 restaurant voucher. It takes all of 30 seconds of work to get a meal for 1/2 price.

I think that WagJag is good at having deals that apply out in the burbs and has a good number of local deals for me. I don't find that GroupOn has too many local deals that we are interested in, other than when it's from a large chain. I believe GroupOn in American based, which is why the Canadian selection is not as detailed and specific as the WagJag offers.

Not sure what you mean by opting out, but we've always had the deals go through that we have participated in. We've never tried to back out of an offer, not sure if it's possible.

We've bought a half-dozen or so deals through Wag-jag, no issue redeeming any of them and have been happy with the savings, we have not tried to opt-out of the emails.

Instead of subscribing, I check the redflag site where pretty well all the current offerings from the deal sites are listed on one page. Much better than multiple e-mails coming in.

Bought a couple of deals. 1/2 price golf at a course near us, and some coffee from Reunion Coffee. No hassles.

Some things I check for:

- The expiry terms. Most are very long, and after that time the coupon retains the original value, but some expire and the coupon is worth $0. Some have a short time frame, eg. lodging for June only.

- Closely read the terms for service items. One for electrical or plumbing service doesn't state it is certified Elecricians or Plumbers, but professional handyman service, so is that just for a guyégal to swap out taps or light fixtures? Fine if that is all you want and $49 for 2 hours is good.

- Dont' know if it matters, but some service deals look good and have huge buys. One had over 900+, and I wonder how well the company will be able to manage the volume.

Before finding the listing site, I was getting e-mails but have opted out of Wagjag and Groupoon.
