I have a dct2500 box and want to hook it my receiver so i can listen to the surround sound. My receiver doesnt have a digital audio in only an out.Does this mean im screwed. Will digital audoi not travel over a standard r+l RCA cable?
A receiver that doesn't have digital audio input but does have a digital output doesn't make much sense. What can the receiver output in digital audio unless it is a combined DVD player/receiver or has some source device of digital audio.
A digital audio signal can not be passed over cables connected to a L/R analog audio connector. A digital audio signal can be converted to analog stereo and passed over that type of connection.
You won't be screwed, you'll just be limited to stereo audio or (if your receiver supports it and you configure it correctly) Dolby ProLogic audio. You need a digital audio input jack to get Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS surround sound.
