CTV & CTV Two 2016-17 schedule

Exactly. Play the episodes straight through with no breaks(other than the odd holiday off) yes the shows would run their seasons out faster but that would then pave the way for more shows as months of the scheduled would be freed up.

ABC has a two-hour season finale of HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER scheduled for Feb. 23, but it looks like CTV will only show the first hour, opting to keep the 10PM simsub for TRAINING DAY (CBS). I wonder if they will show the last hour of HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER on March 2?

The U.S. networks will broadcast the Presidential Address starting at 9PM ET on Tuesday, Feb. 28, so there won't be any new U.S. programming after that time. The two-hour Tuesday premiere of The Voice will be truncated to 1 hour from 8-9PM ET, with the second hour moved to 8-9PM ET on Thursday, March 2 on both CTV and NBC. CTV will shift the Big Bang rerun to 7:30PM ET.

CTV has dropped all mention of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. They carried season 1, but it seems they declined season 2 which premieres on CBS at 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 8. CTV will simsub Designated Survivor which returns on ABC in that timeslot.

You'll have to change your PVR if you recorded CMBB on CTV last year.

Additional note: CTV will air the new series TIME AFTER TIME (s-ABC) on Sunday at 9 p.m. on March 5 (two-hour premiere), with the remaining episodes scheduled for 1 hour beginning Sunday at 9 p.m. on March 12.

CTV Two is moving the March 9 episode of Sleepy Hollow to Thursday, March 8 at 9PM ET. This will give them room to simsub The Vampire Diaries retrospective at 8PM ET on Friday, March 10, followed by the series finale at 9PM ET.

Sorry to hear that CTV is going to show CM-BB again. The program was so full of negative stereotypes. Almost all the police in the foreign countries were typically depicted as uncooperative/suspicious of the Americans who frankly acted like the equally stereotypical 1960's "ugly American" sticking their noses into places they had no business being. The entire series was based on the message, spoken at the start of each episode by the team leader, that Americans should be afraid of the world once they crossed the border out of their own supposedly "safe" country.

CTV would be carrying Blindspot but since it doesn't return until the 22nd on NBC, I would expect CTV to carry CM:BB this week and next in its slot, then it may get moved to CTV2 at 10ET to simsub with NBC since all they are carrying now are Mike & Molly and Anger Management reruns at that time.

@hercules130 I was surprised that CTV didn't even schedule episode 2 (March 15) even though Blindspot doesn't return until March 22. I was writing the same thing as @denben73. They might also shuffle it around to vacant spots on CTV.

CTV may not carry the Wednesday, March 15 "BEST OF THE BLIND AUDITIONS" of The Voice, since those were shown in previous episodes.

I've noticed that CTV has done a very poor job with their scheduling in the last few months, even on their own web site. Things don't make sense, then they change them at the last minute.

While I generally do not mind much with simsub practice in principal, its execution in many times annoys me.

Canadian broadcast networks want to maximize their simsub opportunities. To that end, they keep on carrying and dropping shows at their whims with not much consideration to the viewers' needs and wants. For example, except for live events, I do not like to record shows on American network if that show is being simsubbed by a Canadian network. The reason is the transition that may not be handled properly, leaving shows cut here and there. I would rather record the show on the Canadian network. In addition, I like to record my shows by series, making them a neat library on my PVR.

But if Canadian networks are not very consistent in carrying the shows, then my library is messed up. There will be episodes here and there not contained within the series' folder.

@hercules130: But don't forget that the actual substitution is done by your BDU (cable/sat.) not by the network. It is the BDU that makes the mistakes which lead to late starts and cut off endings, not CTV/Global etc.

CBS has made some programming changes which CTV will probably simsub, although CTV hasn't officially announced anything.

TRAINING DAY moves to Saturdays at 9PM ET starting April 8 to burn off the remaining 7 episodes.

THE AMAZING RACE starts on Thursday, March 30 at 10PM ET.

CTV has updated the showpage, although the daily schedule is still garbage:
"Criminal Minds Beyond Borders NEXT EPISODE: WEDNESDAY at 8/7C on CTV" (March 15)
Source: Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders | CTV

CBS will have NCAA BASKETBALL on Thursdays and Friday, March 23 and 24, which will give CTV some openings for CMBB. ABC has a rerun of Shark Tank on March 31, so CTV could slip CMBB in that slot. Grimm will end on Friday, March 31. I had originally thought that CTV could air a few episodes there until THE AMAZING RACE started. Now it looks like that slot will be open for the rest of the season.

Even a Friday timeslot on CTV will probably get better ratings than a simsub on CTV Two.
