It's one of my favorite shows and I've been enjoying it even more lately in HD. It seems that many shows that are in HD, such as live sporting events, don't use HD handheld cameras while shooting scenes away from the main action. For example, the pit areas in a Nascar race or the sidelines in a football game are not HD although the main action is. Obviously the cameras used while shooting COPS are handhelds and they produce a wonderfully crisp shot. I'm hoping that the use of HD handhelds will become more mainstrem in the near future.

Keep in mind that the handhelds used to shoot COPS do not have to be 'live'. They can record to tape and be self contained. Handhelds for live action have to have a way of getting the feed back to the production facilities instantly (using cable or wireless) and therefore are a different beast.
