I have an LG 32LG30 lcd tv. The color suddenly went screwy (a severe lack of red it seems). It has gone back to normal color a few times for short periods.
I use component cables from the satellite box and dvd and both have the same problem... (actually the dvd looks almost black and white now)
When I use my pc on the tv it still looks fine...
I assume this means that it is a problem with the component section only... ?
Is it worth the risk to buy a component to hdmi converter to see if that will provide a decent picture with different inputs?
Otherwise I am facing having to buy a new tv I fear...
Any other suggestions and help are greatly appreciated.

The symptoms point to a problem with the component signal processing. It you have separate cables for the satelite box and DVD then the problem is interna, otherwise check your red cable.

Other options are getting it fixed at a local repair shop, or applying the cost of the repair to a new TV.

Try checking the cables first (unplug and replug all ends first, then try any 3 (different) cables with RCA connectors making sure you have the colours connected correctly). It may be a simple cable issue, although with two devices affected, it could be internal to the TV? Here's an FAQ on Things to check/try, like unplugging the TV for a while for a reset.
