I am hoping you all will chime in with some advice.

I am in the market for a new TV. Likely a 55". I am not a huge videophile and my home theatre setup is relatively modest.

What I am trying to do with this purchase is eliminate one STB. Currently I use a WDTV Live for streaming from my home network - I'm hoping to find a TV with its Codec support baked in. So far my search has revealed very poor support in the tvs currently available.

Is there a generally accepted king of codec support / ease of network streaming? Any particular sets I should be looking at?

Your advice is appreciated.

I don't rely on any one codec, I just know the WDTV Live and other comparable STBs play just about everything. I want a setup where I can toss the extra box and not worry about running into a format I can't play.

Not sure you'll find one that advertises it, but...
I was able to enable Video playback via USB port on the LG set
I had bought a year ago, by accessing the service menu.
Seemed to play most of the stuff I had recorded.
But honestly, I haven't used it much since, and it's kind of buggy.
Fine for me, but not recommended for the wife for instance.
