Chinese authorities are continuing to jam Chinese, Tibetan and Uyghur-language broadcast of several international radio stations although they promised to respect press freedom and the free flow of information during the Olympic Games.

Anyone familiar with the landscape of Canadian audio and video media here is well aware of the (often ridiculous) restrictions that have been placed upon we consumers. Sure, some of it has to do with licensing restrictions and broadcast rights and that is understandable. But while not directly controlled by the politicians here, the main body we have to thank for the majority of what we cannot see or hear are our friends at the good ol' CRTC.

The jamming and other HR violations are not surprising. Why would an Olympic committee with it's aims even think about holding games there? Oh well too late now.

You only have to look at some of the events at the Olympics to see the whole thing has gone to pot.
