50/3?!?!? Saw this posted on another forum and made this screenshot for my town's info. If true, I'll be happy. I'm on Warp already for the upload speed and a 50% increase for no cost is pretty attractive.

re: changes to warp

I checked the bundle site a few days ago and what you saw was there but today (Saturday Sept. 4, 2010) it is back to normal. In fact, it shows warp as 25 download but does not mention upload (it was 50 down, 3 up). Someone from Shaw replied that changes to the Warp tier would be happening in the next few weeks but what you and I saw is not the acutal change. I am not sure what is happening as I don't work for shaw and I have not heard anything other tham the 50 down and 3 up is not correct (too good to be true).

I'm thinking that the speed increase for Warp is coming very soon. I was recently at a Shaw local office, and in the waiting room I saw an employee publication (some sort of Shaw magazine to communicate to employees I guess).

In this publication, there was a full page spread showing the speeds of their internet service, and Warp was listed as 50/3 , even though the Shaw site for Winnipeg shows it as 25/2 .

There was also a blurb about "what is IPv6" that explained that IPv6 had more IP addresses, and more information would be forthcoming when available; and there was a blurb about Shaw Fasternet, virtually identical to http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/ProductsServices/Internet/The+Fasternet/

I just called and had the warp upgrade from Extreme and the tech confirmed the planned Sept 15 to be the change to 50 down 3 up they are mailing me my rent free router hard wired now I have a paid for spare Extreme capable router for the storage room :) The new router should arrive Tuesday. I was instructed to do a speed test and if it seemed off phone for a hit on it. Seems pretty staight forward should be great for Skype?

I got a call 10 mins later informing me they will not mail modem and I could pick up or have a tec out to set it up I went for the tec and it is on the 15th so thats cool it'll be certified and verified in one swack :)

I guess it would be nice to see a 50% speed increase for no extra cost, but really, Warp was overpriced to begin with...as is Xtreme if you compare it to Telus. I have been trying out Telus Optik over the last few days but I'm really on the fence about keeping Shaw. If they bumped up Extreme to 25Mbps/1.5Mbps I would switch back in an instant.

EDIT: And Telus really isn't any cheaper at the 15Mbps level, my bad...the TV is like $20 more expensive for the mostly the same HD channels. The more and more I look at it, Shaw IS the better option.

just went to warp today, got a docsis 3.0 modem

very inconsistent in speed tests, I'm downloading no where near 50Mbps, highest I've seen is 38Mbps average closer to 25Mbps,
which I nearly got with extreme, going to call shaw tomorrow and see whats up,
at this point $50 more for what I'm getting ain't worth it,
upload is a consistent 2.5Mbps. not bad but they claim 3Mbps

edit. nevermind I think its the speedtest host I was using that is maxing out, I've got a torrent going at near 30Mbps and just did a speed test at 18Mbps, together close to the 50 shaw claims
