Huawei, a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, today unveiled the Ascend P1 S at CES which it says will be the world's slimmest smartphone.

Expected to arrive on retail shelves in April, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered device will be just 6.68mm thick.

Features of the Huawei Ascend P1 S include a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 Cortext-A9 processor, 4.3-inch super AMOLED 960 x 540 pixel touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, 1670mAh/1800mAh battery, and 8-megapixel BSI rear-facing and 1.3-megapixel HD front-facing cameras.

Huawei also unveiled the Ascend P1 which, as part of the same smartphone series, features the same functionality while measuring a slightly bulkier 7.69mm thick. Both models will be launched with quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and pentaband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA for connectivity and will have 1GB of RAM with 4GB of ROM

The Ascend P1/P1 S will be available in metallic black, ceramic white and cherry-blossom pink starting in April.
