Lopii Productions is looking for families and pets to participate in Bestest Day Ever With My Best Friend, made in partnership with CBC Kids. The 20 x 7-minute live-action series will be filmed in January- February 2023 and is set to launch in 2023. See the CBC Press Release for details.

THE NATURE OF THINGS 62nd season will launch on Friday, January 6, 2023. David Suzuki will retire after 43 years as host of TV’s longest-running science series with his final episode set to air in the spring. New hosting plans for the series after Suzuki’s departure will be confirmed in the coming weeks. (CBC Press Release)

Nickelback and Tate McRae will take the stage in their home province of Alberta at the 2023 JUNO Awards in Edmonton. The show will broadcast and stream live across Canada on Monday, March 13 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos and CBC Music’s Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and CBC/Radio-Canada announced the continuation of their successful creative and commercial collaboration originally signed in June 2019. They also announced co-production development deals with ABC Kids and CBC Kids for My Shadow is Pink, a preschool series for kids ages 3 to 7; and The Eerie Chapters of Chhaya, a series for tweens ages 10 to 14. CBC UNVEILS WINTER 2023 SLATE

CBC’s winter broadcast and streaming schedule launches Monday, January 2 on CBC TV and the free CBC Gem streaming service. *All following times local with the exception of Newfoundland, please add half an hour to all times.

MONDAYS:
  • 7:30PM - FAMILY FEUD CANADA continues Mondays to Thursdays. For more information on the “Celebrity Special” episodes, click here.
  • 8PM - MURDOCH MYSTERIES Season 16 continues January 2.
  • 9PM - The new adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic novel, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, starring David Tennant, debuts January 2. Adapted from the popular French-language series, time travel drama PLAN B premieres February 27.
  • 10PM - THE NATIONAL continues Sunday to Friday each week.
TUESDAYS:
  • 8PM - THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES 30th anniversary season continues January 3.
  • 8:30PM - SON OF A CRITCH returns for Season 2 on January 3.
  • 9PM - WORKIN’ MOMS returns for its seventh and final season on January 3.

EDIT: Simu Liu returns to host The 2023 JUNO Awards, live from Edmonton on Monday, March 13.

CBC KIDS
New original live-action preschool series MITTENS AND PANTS launches Monday, February 6 on CBC Gem and Monday, February 13 on CBC TV. Episodes of new preschool animated series GISELE’S MASHUP ADVENTURES launch Wednesday, February 1 on CBC Gem and Monday, February 6 on CBC TV.

CANADA’S NEW YEAR’S EVE: COUNTDOWN TO 2023 will broadcast on CBC TV and CBC Gem on Saturday, December 31 at 11 p.m. (11:20 p.m. AT, 11:50 p.m. NT). See the CBC Press Release for details.

CBC TV will air all 10 episodes of Best In Miniature Season 1 the week of Monday, December 26 with 2 episodes each evening at 8 and 9 PM local time. Season 1 was released on CBC Gem earlier this year. As previously announced, Season 2 premieres on February 19.

Dare I hope that the new host will bring this series back to its original roots when it delved into all the sciences and not just into those soapbox subjects beloved by Suzuki.

CANADA READS returns for its 22nd edition, Monday, March 27 through Thursday, March 30. The CANADA READS 2023 debates will broadcast each day on CBC Radio, with a live stream on CBC Gem, CBC Listen and CBCbooks.ca. The debates will be available later in the day on CBC TV and CBC Gem. The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (the Canadian Academy) announced The Canadian Screen Awards with Samantha Bee will air on Sunday, April 16 at 8:00 PM (9:00 PM AT, 9:30 PM NT) on CBC and CBC Gem. See the press release for the genre-based award shows taking place in-person in Toronto from Tuesday, April 11 through to Friday, April 14. The nominees for the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards will be announced on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 7:00 AM ET.

My Life as a Rolling Stone - 4-part documentary about The Rolling Stones will air on CBC TV Sunday, February 26 and March 5 from 8-10 PM local time. Previously released on CBC Gem in November.
