I post schedule updates, series premieres and specials based on press releases as well as series renewals and cancellations as they are announced. I don't usually post on-going episode information, repeats, program descriptions or "PR-speak," so if you want more info, you can click on the associated link.

CBC commissions an average of 80 documentaries each year for CBC, CBC Gem and documentary Channel and also acquires additional documentaries. This upcoming year, CBC will both commission and acquire one-hour documentaries under the banner of THE PASSIONATE EYE, which now moves to the CBC TV schedule this fall. CBC Docs POV documentaries will now be greenlit and broadcast under THE PASSIONATE EYE brand.

CBC SPORTS​

As Canada's Olympic and Paralympic Network, CBC will provide coverage leading up to, during and after the OLYMPIC GAMES TOKYO 2020 (July 23 - Aug 8), TOKYO 2020 PARALYMPIC GAMES (Aug 24 - Sept 5), OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES BEIJING 2022 (Feb 4 - 20, 2022) and PARALYMPIC WINTER GAMES (Mar 4 - 13, 2022). In addition to the Olympic Games coverage, CBC SPORTS will continue to keep Canadians connected to the world of high-performance sport through weekly staple ROAD TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES, available on CBC TV and CBC Gem, as well as live streams of key competitions on cbcsports.ca and the CBC Sports app.

CBC Kids will launch new programming for kids and tweens across all platforms this upcoming year, including a new season of award-winning tween series DETENTION ADVENTURE (Season 3; Fall 2021) and new original series UKULELE U (Winter 2022; 52x7). For the preschool audience, CBC Kids will launch GARY'S MAGIC FORT (Fall 2021; 13x11). CBC Kids will also offer the world premiere of animated series BIG BLUE (Fall 2021; 52x11) for kids 5-9.

Interesting to see episodes lengths of some of the series that will air Winter 2022 series extended. 12 episodes for Coroner and Pretty Hard Cases, compared to 10. And 24 episodes for Murdoch Mysteries and This Hour has 22 Minutes, compared to 18 to 20 most years.

I interpreted this differently. There were a lot of series cancellation this year, and to fill the spaces left by these cancellations, CBC ordered more episodes. Murdoch Mysteries starts in the fall and normally ends in March with gaps in the schedule so it could still wrap up by the time NHL playoffs start. The other 2 series of 10 episodes could be moved ahead a couple of weeks in January 2022.

With the continuing uncertainty of the public health situation, this year’s Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards Gala will instead become an exciting one-hour special broadcast on CBC Television, ICI TÉLÉ and the free CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV streaming services on Friday, November 26 at 7 p.m. ET. The Terry Fox Foundation announced a special one-hour broadcast entitled Terry Fox: The Power of One that will broadcast nationwide on Monday, August 9 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC TV and CBC Gem, and will also stream globally at CBC.ca/TerryFox. CBC announced that production started today in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Mark Critch's Son of a Critch (13x30). The CBC original series will premiere on CBC TV and CBC Gem in Canada in January 2022, with Lionsgate handling U.S. and international distribution rights.

Production has started in Toronto and Ontario on season four (12x60) of the CBC original series CORONER, which will debut on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service in Winter 2022. (CBC Press Release)

Boat Rocker Media announced that its preschool animated series Dino Ranch has been renewed for a second season (52 x 11') for Disney in the U.S. & Latin America beginning in 2022. Dino Ranch is produced in association with CBC Kids and Radio-Canada.

Shooting is currently underway in Manitoba and Ontario on air ambulance rescue series Skymed, from Toronto-based Piazza Entertainment, CBC and CBS Studios. ViacomCBS will distribute the series internationally and stream it in the U.S. on Paramount+ next year. (Deadline)

My advice would be watch ep. 1 & 2 and make up your own mind. I found it dull with only a very thin connection to the H.G. Wells classic. Acting by the way was OK. It's just that the poor folks have been given nothing substantive with which to work.
