Action film "Captain America: The First Avenger" was the top selling movie and the top rental on DVD in North America last week according to figures published today by Rentrak.

The superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character which tells the story of Steve Rogers, a sickly man from Brooklyn who is transformed into super soldier Captain America, grossed over $366 million at the box office.

The movie received generally positive reviews from film critics with a 79% approval rating on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 210 reviews with an average rating of 6.9/10, and the consensus: "With plenty of pulpy action, a pleasantly retro vibe, and a handful of fine performances, Captain America is solidly old-fashioned blockbuster entertainment."

Directed by Joe Johnston, the film stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Tommy Lee Jones as Colonel Chester.
