We cancelled our xpressvu 3 months ago, and at the time were renting a pvr (i can't remember the model... the dual tuner, dual output with the RF remote).

They should have sent us a box to return the receiver but never did... and never charged me for it. All of our bell services were cancelled (what a great feeling to be bell-free!) and received final bill last month (a credit balance of $10).

So now what... what's this receiver good for? Can someone use it? I have friends/family on BEV, wonder what would happen if we tried to activate it on someone's account?

Anyone have any experience? Thanks in advance!

As long as you have the receiver, you are not Bell free. Bell is slow to send out bills for unreturned receivers so it could still happen. I also doubt that anyone else could activate it since the serial number and card code will be Bell's database as belonging to them.

It CANNOT be used by anyone else, it is a rental that is now listed by Bell as 'missing'.

They will eventually bill you or you might just get a visit from a Tech, as there is now a Receiver Recovery project in operation.

My advice, is to call Bell, and ask for the box's to be shipped to you, so you can return the receiver.

yes your friends can activate it....but if bell comes back asking for it you will have to return it. So just let them borrow it.
Wrong!!! When a client wants to activate a receiver he could do so by web, or by calling an agent. Since this receiver is atteched to the OP's account, the person that would trey to activate it will get a message from Bell. When he would call in with the receiver # the agent would see that this receiver is in the OP's account, and was a rental that was cancelled. They would therefore refuse to activate the receiver for that person, and would ask that person to either return the receiver to the person that gaved (sold) it to them so that person could ship it back, or would ask if we could ship boxes to him, so that he returns the receiver
