According to the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), the average Canadian spends 45 hours a month online, which places us first in the world for Internet use.

Canada also leads the world in viewing online video, reports CIRA, and we still spend more for broadband speed than 19 other countries.

CIRA has compiled these factoids and statistics in a new online resource called 2013.CA Factbook .

"I believe that Canadians will find the information within the Factbook revealing" said CIRA's president and CEO Byron Holland.

Holland adds: "From the increasing consumption of media content online to the continued growth of .CA, the Factbook provides a snapshot of an Internet landscape in Canada and around the world that is constantly evolving."

Another tweetable mention for domain fans is that during the last five years, global registrations for domain names were up 70 percent to almost 240 million domains online.

Four main sections are included in the .CA Factbook: the Global Net, .CA's in Canada & the Canadian Internet Economy, Canada Online and .CA and the World.
