Is it possible to have TV via Telus and Internet via Shaw?

We are moving into a new condo that has copper wiring which Telus says causes us to have to downgrade our service.

Right now we have Optic Fiber - Telus 300 - and the tech said that we'd have to change to Optic but our internet speed "won't change". Speaking to the next rep and it turns out they are changing us to Telus 50 which according to their website is good for "up to 2 devices". The rep said that it's just as good as Shaw 300 which, after looking on their website is a flat out lie.

As a gamer with a wife that works from home clearly this won't work.

Our Telus TV is a really good price due to a buttload of discounts we've racked up over the year from their poor service and Shaw has no issue at all in the building so we can get internet as fast as we want with them.

It's certainly possible but Telus may not be willing to provide TV service without internet. Be aware that TV use may impact internet speeds so actual speeds could be below 50Mbps when a TV is on.

I contacted Tbaytel regarding the same question as I wanted faster Internet as I live in a condo so the fast DSL I was able to get was 25/1.5. I then contacted Shaw to see the fastest speed I can get which was 600/20.

I used the chat feature for both. It was self-install when I get it.

Spoke with Shaw - they wanted us of course to package but we just got the internet through them as we can get any internet speed Shaw offers, there is no limitations like there are with Telus. Telus agreed that their internet speed sucks but they will still provide us TV. To do so, they are not hardwiring the boxes but putting in a modem that only the TV boxes can access as it won't provide Wi-Fi / allow outside devices to connect. They say that the speed should be fine for a TV. Install is next week so we shall see...

If Telus IPTV is anything like Bell IPTV, the limit will be on the number of simultaneous recordings and live channels being watched. Depending on the connection speed, PVR recordings will likely have a hard limit like 2 or 4.

I've had Telus Optik TV with Internet via cable, up until a month ago. There were no issues. Telus incoming signal was via DSL (bonded in my case since I had Telus Internet too, previously). Inside, DSL line(s) went into Telus TM3200 modem, and from there tech used existing MoCa connector on the modem and additional MoCa adapters via existing coax cabling in the house. Number of needed adapters depends on the number of TVs you have. WiFi did not work well in my case. There was constant stuttering.
Internet signal came into house via coax infrastructure to cable modem, and from there it's all Cat5/6 cabling or WiFi.
Zero issues with that setup for over 2 years. I even used VLAN to split Telus set top box from other devices, since coax was the only cable I could use in one location.

Last month I dropped TV altogether and returned all equipment to Telus. I kept all the MoCa adapters, which was nice bonus so I can continue using that coax run for other devices (no need for VLAN any more).
