I'm not sure if what I want to do is possible or can be done easily, but basically I've been a happy SDTV user, not because I don't like HD but because analog SDTV is super easy to work with. I plug the cable into my TV tuner card on the PC, and I can use any program like GB-PVR to schedule recording, and there's no other gear to worry about. Programs are automatically recorded into avi's and can be copied anywhere. All is well.
I have no idea how any of this would work on the PC if I try to introduce HDTV into the system. Shaw's HD PVR is a proprietary box. I'm not willing to give up on the ability to record programs into computer files automatically. Anyone?
