Last Friday Calgary's Mix 97.7 switched its name to Up! 97.7, changing its format from hits of the '80s, '90s and today to "upbeat" and "feel good" songs from all genres and all eras.

The format echoes a similar one that has been on the air in Edmonton for the past six months and has been met with success for the Rawlco Radio group.

Grant Buchanan - Weekends

They fired Alan Beesley (aka The Arena Announcer for Flames Games) and Phoenix last Friday Morning.

Seems they can't seem to find a format that works for them. First it was a mix of pop, rock, and country, then it was the 80s, 90s, and today, and now it's pretty much a JackFM copycat. Hopefully they do well with this format though.

If they maybe just dropped the 'today' crap and played music like Boom 97.3 Toronto, then I might listen.
