There was a number of interesting rumours and some news making its way around the blogosphere this morning which will be of interest to readers interested in tablet computing.
The first rumour was Google will be teaming up with LG in order to launch its own Android 3.0 powered Tablet computer this summer under the Nexus brand name. The search engine giant currently sells Android powered smartphones under the Nexus label. No word on specifications, delivery date or pricing.
Another interesting rumour today is that the next iteration of Apples iOS operating system, iOS 5, will be released this fall. Techcrunch is reporting that rather than the typical summer launch alongside the latest iPhone, Apple will release iOS after the summer, possibly in conjunction with a new type of iPad. Other sites are suggesting that both the iPhone and iOS 5 will not be released until the fall.
In other tablet computer news today, Acer says it will finally launch its Honeycomb powered Android tablet, the Iconia Tab A500 in late April. The tablet will feature a 10.1 inch screen with seven-inch and five-inch models coming out later in the year. Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of flsha memory, front and rear facing cameras and Wifi. The device was first announced last November and was expected to be released in February.
