Has anyone tried Blu Ray firmware from UK on a Canadian player?

Specifically I'm looking at my Sony S370 which is available in the UK and has access to BBC iPlayer in it's internet apps.

I have a VPN setup on my PC to give me a UK ip address so I can hopefully access iPlayer directly from the blu ray player.

If you do find it, do buy another Blu Ray unit so just incase of miss match configuration creating a bricked unit you still have one to carry on to the next experiment, seriously it may be harmfull to the unit.

It will not work even if you buy complete unit in the UK. All blu-ray player brands use region sensitive contents delivery. They check your internet IP address and if its from Canada they will only allow you to watch Canada oriented contents. This is beyond my understanding as you can watch, read, or listen from the computer, but not from the blu-ray connected to the net. The apps only are available in the country from which they originated.
