For those who crave the return of the BlackBerry keyboard in a smarter format, May 1st is the date to remember.

The new BlackBerry Q10 smartphone, also touch-screen enabled with a 8MP camera, will be available in Canada at the beginning of May and the major wireless carriers have already started the pre-order process.

Rogers Wireless, TELUS and Bell Mobility have all priced the new device at $199 with a three-year contract. In fact, Virgin Mobile, Fido, Koodo Mobile and Sasktel will also have the new phone available as will retail stores including Best Buy, Future Shop, TBooth Wireless, The Source, and Walmart Canada.

Sporting a 3.1-inch Super AMOLED display, the Q10 is powered with dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, all supported by an 2100 mAh battery.

BlackBerry plans to ship the Q10 to US customers at the end of May and has agreements with Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

Andrew MacLeod, Managing Director of BlackBerry, adds: "We’re seeing strong momentum behind BlackBerry 10 from carriers, customers and partners around the world... the BlackBerry Q10 will accelerate this trend."
