BlackBerry will release their next phone, the Passport, in September according to CEO John Chen. The news was announced yesterday during the company’s release of their quarterly earnings report.

The Passport will feature a 4.5 square display with 1440x1440 resolution and a QWERTY keyboard underneath. The keyboard, a staple on Blackberry devices, is also rumoured to be touch-sensitive for easier autocorrection.

The company has faced its share of criticism in recent years for its perceived failure to innovate, and this has been reflected in slumping earnings and stock prices. However, Thursday’s announcement brought better than-expected first quarter results, which led to a 12 percent rise in share prices.

“I believe if we execute a couple of quarters like this we will meet our goals and return to profitability in 2016”, said Chen.
