Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone is now available from Mobilicity at a no-contract price of $299.99.

Consumers can add Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) and unlimited data onto any Mobilicity plan for $20 a month.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G features a full-QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, as well as dedicated media keys, a camera that can record video and a microSD/SDHC slot that supports up to 32 GB memory cards for media storage.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G ships with BlackBerry 5 and is BlackBerry 6 ready.

It's a good move for them, but I think that given their market it will largely cannibalize their Bold sales. How many people are going to be willing to shell out for a full-priced Bold over a full-price Curve when for most people the difference is nominal?

They might have been better off with the Pearl, which at least has a different form factor. Still, hard to argue this isn't a positive step forward.
