"Clients can receive 6GB of data and unlimited WiFi at Starbucks for only $30 a month on any voice plan. For an additional $10 a month, clients can share this data with their iPad."
To the best of my knowledge until now users had to purchase a separate data plan for the iPad, however Bell may be changing that with the iPhone 4 launch. It also looks like this offer applies to any phone and not just the iPhone 4, though that isn't explicitly stated.

So has anyone been able to take advantage of this offer in a reasonable way?

I went to a Bell store looking to pick up a new iPhone 4 under this deal as a new subscriber. I was told by them that the 6GB for 30 bucks is a "data add-on" and that I would need to have a smart phone plan already.

If correct, that's not much a deal in my opinion. Who would pay the 50 bucks plus an additional 30 just so they could have 6 GB's of data?

The 6GB data option can be added to a standard voice plan (it does not need to be a Smartphone Combo Plan). As long as you have a smartphone, you can subscribe to this add-on.

There has been a bit of confusion over this, so you may need to talk to another rep to get it added if necessary.

In my case, the 6GB plan just replaces the $30 for 1GB plan I had in addition to my corp voice plan. For me, there was no change in cost, no extension of my contract, just an increase in my monthly bandwidth allowance. The rep I got on the phone was great, well aware of the new plan and how to make the swap.

Good luck

I signed up for this plan. I still have no iPhone nor iPad micro sim. I have called customer support. The customer support has terrible service with constant delays, I have been mislead about delivery times, and cannot seem to find anyone to cancel the order that has not been shipped. I have a phone number and an account that was setup on 1st day of ordering. I might also have a bill in my name for the new account.

still having no luck adding this to my existing data plan. rep has no clue what i am even talking about

EDIT: finally got through to someone who knew what they were talking about. I have 2 BlackBerries (one for my wife, one for me) and if you add the 6GB package to one line in the family plan with Bell you WILL LOSE ALL SHARING MINUTES BETWEEN THE FAMILY PLAN as they have to devide each phone onto their own account and billing. When I asked what 6GB of data had to do with sharing phone minutes the answer I recieved was that the promotion is to invoke new customers to join and it wasn't designed with people and family plans in mind. So we save a few bucks in extra minutes but lose out of 5.5GB of data (already paying $30 each line for 500mb of data) on device only as a result of the way the promotion is set up. Glad my mobility contract is due soon and hope WIND is in Windsor in the next year.

Most reps think that plan is just for the iPhone, so it's not too surprising you didn't run into any issues.

I dealt with 4 people in total before I was finally able to get it added to my Omnia II. I ended up going to one of the Bell stores, and when I asked the rep about the 6GB plan, he mentioned it could be added for any data-capable device (smartphone, essentially).

That said, I'm not quite sure how the iPad sharing works yet - nor the deal about family share plans.
