The company says that the battery inside the device may begin to swell causing the device to malfunction. Bell says it is aware of two incidents where the device malfunctioned.
In a letter sent to customers, Bell has asked that customers stop using the device and to send the device back through a a pre-addressed, prepaid envelope which will be sent to them in coming days.
Bell says the hotspot batteries will be replaced along with a new battery cover and returned to the customer in about 6 to 8 weeks. During that time customers will be given a Novatel U998 Turbo Stick to use in its place.
