The new Sony water-resistant Android smartphone, the Xperia Z, will be available in Canada later in July exclusively through Bell Mobility.

With a full HD 5-inch Reality Display powered by the Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 for super brightness and clarity, customers will be especially eager to watch Bell Mobile TV.

"With Xperia Z, we are thrilled to bring a breakthrough superphone to Bell in Canada," said Tim Hernquist, Vice President of Marketing for North America, Sony Mobile Communications. "The Xperia Z brings over half a century of Sony innovation to a superphone for an experience that truly stands out."

With subtly rounded edges and smooth reflective surfaces on all sides, the Xperia Z is highly durable with tempered glass and anti-shatter film on the front and back, plus it has the highest levels of dust and water resistance found in a premium smartphone.

Hernquist added that since the January announcement, the Xperia Z has won 13 awards and received the widest ranging of any Sony smartphone to date with 140 sales channels in 60 markets across the globe.

The Xperia Z draws from Sony digital camera technology with the world's first image sensor with High Dynamic Range (HDR) video for smartphones, which allows for clear images against strong backlight, so users can capture razor sharp pictures and videos whatever the conditions.

Another popular feature is the Battery STAMINA Mode, which can improve the standby time by four times by automatically shutting down battery-draining apps whenever the screen is off and starting them up again when the screen is back on.

Preloaded on the Xperia Z are the "WALKMAN", Album and Movies apps with one-touch functionality to comfortably share music, photos and videos from the smartphone to an array of NFC-enabled Sony devices, including speakers, headphones and TVs.
