CTV 2 and Much Network would carry the MTV original programming lineup and Crave would stream the original MTV shows the next day

It makes sense given I’ve already seen some MTV content on both channels’ schedules in the past.

The MTV brand in Canada will only be on FAST services. Pluto already has at least 10 MTV branded channels.

That might mean more limited distribution for traditional TV viewers, given that CTV2 isn’t available everywhere.

I'm pretty sure Bell Media's licence for all MTV content will expire at the end of the year. That includes whatever is airing on MTV, CTV, CTV2, Much and the 159 shows available for streaming on CTV.ca.

If that happens, any current programming will probably end up on Paramount+, since MTV is owned by Paramount Global. They may also throw up a few more FAST channels for the old stuff that CTV already streams for free.

It feel like the main resson why MTV is closing down may also be because all of its contents could be watched for free on CTV.ca/the CTV app, unlike the other channels whose contents are locked behind providers.

i just checked a couple of recent programs, The Challenge and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, both are already on Paramount+ in addition to Bell Media. They aren't on Pluto, but may be in the future.

Time to add more repeats of The Simpsons, Seinfeld, American Dad, Futurama, Cash Cab, Just For Laughs, etc?

Actually, it's not too bad. It's a 2 hour block of "Ridiculousness" each day, repeated 3 times a day.

You know what? If they do lose the rights to Ridiculousness indeed, I could see Bob's Burgers and Family Guy being picked up to fill thr void.
NOTE: Rogers lost the cable (outside of conventional television) rights to those two shows and The Simpsons in late August 2024, when OLN was shuttered and replaced with Bravo Canada.

MTV's Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta All-New Episodes Starting Tuesday, January 7. (Source) This series isn't on Paramount+ yet, but I expect that's probably where it will end up.

Someone got this in their Rogers bill:

"TV channel update: MTV

Starting January 1, 2025, the broadcaster of MTV will stop airing this channel. As a result, it will be removed from your TV package or theme pack. If you subscribe to MTV as a standalone channel, you will no longer be charged as of this date.

If you have MTV selected as a Flex channel, please visit rogers.com/flexchannels and replace it with another available channel of your choice.
