Fellow DHCers, I need some help.

Up until this month, my Bell Internet breakdown was as follows...

1 HN Modem Lease 3.95
1 Usage Insurance plan 120 15.00
1 Essential plus 31.95
Less Essential plus - Discount 10.00cr

This month Bell didn't give me the $10 student credit that I was last getting, as they say my promotion has expired. They offered me a one year term with 2 free months and a $5 credit. Is this any good or is there anything better I can get? I don't really want to switch from Bell but I also don't want to be locked into a 1 year contract to have an affordable price.

Well, 2 months free on a 12-month plan is almost 17%. You know how much you *were* paying; now figure out how much you will pay for the year, divide by 12. Then decide.

Right, but now they want me to go onto a 12 month term to get these promos which doesn't work for me cause I won't be around in the summer. Anyone getting anything better or is this a good deal?

Ask them if the 12 month term can be split over two years. I doubt they'd go for it, though.

What's a "Usage Insurance plan"?

A way for you to buy data ahead of time so you're not charged after the fact for going over your bitcap.

Yep, I pay $15 a month extra to bump the usage on my plan from 2GB to 122GB a month. I need this because I am using a Slingbox setup in Toronto for my primary viewing needs, with OTA for secondary usage. When you combine how much streaming I use a month, its useful to have the extra cap.

I'm still on the grandfathered Sympatico HSE so while my speeds are relatively low (5 Mbps down) I don't have to worry about going over a usage cap since it's unlimited.

Regardless, does anyone have any advise on how to get the price back to what it was without having to be on a 1 year plan?
