The first phase of Bell Mobility's 4G broadband mobile network expansion in Manitoba has been completed.

This means that 4G wireless data speeds up to 42 Megabits per second (Mbps) and average download speeds of 7 to 14 Mbps are now a reality.

In addition, 50 retail locations are now open across Manitoba, including 4 new Bell stores, The Source and several retail partners.

Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility, relayed that 70 percent of Manitobans now have access to next-generation wireless services, the latest smartphones and tablets as well as Bell Mobile TV, just in time to view the London 2012 Olympics.

He adds: "Bell Mobility is proud to bring our 4G mobile service to Manitobans, who benefit from Bell's multi-billion investments in broadband network technology, industry-leading spending, and global access to the leading superphones and other mobile devices."

Bell plans to complete the next phase of its 4G network build-out in Manitoba by the end of the year, which includes an extension from Portage la Prairie to Brandon.
