Bell 9500 (and 7500) Receiver Discussions

Had a Bell Tech at the house today to replace my legacy SW44/SW44A switch combo with a DPP Quad. Pretty good service, I called in a problem yesterday (Sunday) and they were at my house the next morning and on a holiday! They waived the $75 service call fee too.

He mentioned there was a 9500 receiver showing up in their system. It wasn't available to anyone and he had little information other than "built in Wi-Fi". Just wondered if anyone had heard of a new receiver - I assume a PVR?

Hi. This is my current hub. I have one 9500 and one 7500.
My question is.i had 2 shows pvring on the 9500. I tried to go watch tv on the 7500 and it was not letting me watch live tv. Only stuff on the pvr or one of the 2 shows that were currently recording.
Any solutions on how to get live tv on the 7500 while 2 shows are recording

The 9500 only has two tuners, so you can either record one programme and watch another live, or you can record two programmes and watch a recording.

The 7500 doesn't have a tuner, so you're stuck with what you've got unless perhaps you obtain additional receivers?

the 9500s talk to each other, BUT they do NOT share their tuner or PVR recordings with other 9500s, they only share their Tuners and Recordings with a 7500 and they must be on a Hybrid Duo Hub (203961) or the Quad Hub (can’t get the number right now).

Hi Everyone...I been reading through this thread but wanted to see if there was any updates to the information in regards to External Hard Drives. I was just speaking with a Bell Support person through the chat on the Bell Website and he said that an External Hard Drive that was used in the 9400 can be used in the 9500. Is this the case or he is incorrect in his information? Thank You
The main issue is the 9500 has only two tuners. Don't know how I would cope with that. I've had two PVRs with 8 tuners each for years. It's not so much that I use those tuners all the time but it's not unusual for more than two shows to be on at the same time. I've even maxed out the 8 tuner limit on occasion during prime time. As long as stations and networks keep piling their most popular shows into the same popular prime time slots with no reruns then it will remain an issue. These days, I go most of the week with almost no prime time recordings but a couple of days have half a dozen or so recordings all in the same two hour time slot.

A friend of mine has a 9242 that is constantly rebooting, if he buys a 9500 from the source can he just swap them out? I’d assume so. He also has a 9241,6131,5900 on different tvs. He shouldn’t need the node as he isn’t going to do whole home on it.

Smokin Joe Something else to keep in mind:
The 9500 isn't compatible with legacy LNB/SW44 systems. A quad Dish Pro Plus (DPP) LNB had to be installed. Could have bought one and done it myself but for $75 it was worthwhile to have the Bell tech do it all.
Thanks, I believe he is running a DPP Quad LNB

Hi, there, we just got 2 new 9500 and 2 new 7500, we have 1(9500) and 1(7500) in the basement and also one of each upstairs on main floor. they are all hooked up and working (seems to be) but we noticed that when we record example in the basement, they are all listed and can be watched on all of the other machines. is there a way to have the main floor, seperate from the basement? meaning when I tape on my 7500 in basement, only show in the basement on the 9500/7500; and have the same upstairs, so each floor can tape their own shows...... hope someone can help me.....
I have 2 9500 receivers and would like to be able to record a show on Rec 1 in my main room but watch the show on my bedroom tv. They are connected to a Home Hub 2000 both wifi and cable.
I have a recurring problem with my 9500. We have a program recording on tuner 1 and a program recording on tuner 2 both at the same time start and end. We decide to SKIP one of those recordings to watch a live program instead but now the tuner that the program we skipped was on is no longer available. So we stopped the other recording program on the other tuner and we can watch live tv on that tuner but still no tuner 2. Help
Hi Group,

Does anyone know where we can get a PDF version of the Bell 9500 HD PVR
Hey gang.. this is an old thread, but thought I would try my luck with the pros.

Looking for installation advice if anyone has any.

I recently upgraded my internet with wireless LTE (better than DSL!), and it came with a satellite package. I was switching from one account to a new one - old account had Dual LNB, and fed to a cascading SW44 setup. So, I could have 8 lines with my old rig.

The installer switched out the Dual LNB with another Dual LNB.. ok, thanks, then he added a DP44 switch and said we can't use the SW44 setup. Can't mix Legacy and new stuff - ok got it. We also got a 9500 with the promo and he said it needed to run off of the Dual LNB directly. So, we have 4 lines coming from the satellite, 2 going to the switch, one going to the 9500 and one to another receiver.

I have 3 9242

All together 6 lines - 1 to the 9500, 1 to one input of one 9242, and 2 lines to the switch (4 lines from the switch)

We're running into some problems. Two lines off the switch are only picking up sat 91 after a Check Switch.

Anyone know if it's possible to go back to our old setup using the SW44 cascade and just split one line from the LNB to get the 9500 working? Or anyone have a clue as to why two lines would only be picking up 91?

Thanks!

I think you answered your own question.

He probably installed a Dish Pro Plus (DPP) Quad LNB, which rules out the SW44. If the installer was sent out by Bell, he should be able to troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it's a Quad LNB (which is funny.. I was using a Quad LNB with a cascading SW44 setup right before the guy came over).

The only issue we're having is two lines only picking up Sat 91, which is a bummer! So I guess a call to Bell is in order from the sound of it.. Unless anyone has some troubleshooting steps we could try. ..

Thanks!
on the 2 lines that are picking up sat 91, what type of receiver is having the problem?

Hey 17671!
The receiver is a 9242.

Thanks!

Thanks

On the 9242's is the coax going into just one tuner input or into both? If it's going into one thats the problem. If it's going into both it must be using a dpp separator device

Hello patpond,

I just wanted to clarify a few things with your setup that I was not able to in my previous message.

there's no such thing as a Dual LNB, its either a DPP Twin or DPP Quad, they look the same but they both contain a switch and have a different amount of outputs behind them. if u have 6 lines from your dish then its likely you have a DPP QUAD (4 lines coming out) and then a DPP 44 switch (2 lines going in, 4 lines coming out) to make a total of 6 lines output.

So do you infact have 6 receivers? or just 6 lines coming off your dish?

for the 9242 receiver, is the line going into ONE tuner input? or is 2 lines going into 2 tuner inputs? or is one line going into a Separator First, then 2 lines going into each input?

If you have DPP technology, you dont need to have one line into each input anymore, you can have one line to each receiver only, then if you have a dual tuner receiver like a 9241, 9242 or 9400, you can add a DPP Separator and it will feed both inputs with one coax due to band stacking technology

can you please let us know in more detail how your system is?

I haven't seen a reply to this question, so . . . . .

The answer is that you'd need to separate the two systems by having each 9500/7500 pair connected to its own (separate) hub. Each hub's ODU would be connected to outputs on your dish or switch.
