Bell 9500 (and 7500) Receiver Discussions

Had a Bell Tech at the house today to replace my legacy SW44/SW44A switch combo with a DPP Quad. Pretty good service, I called in a problem yesterday (Sunday) and they were at my house the next morning and on a holiday! They waived the $75 service call fee too.

He mentioned there was a 9500 receiver showing up in their system. It wasn't available to anyone and he had little information other than "built in Wi-Fi". Just wondered if anyone had heard of a new receiver - I assume a PVR?

Good info. I already run two DPP44’s and have 2 separators. Since my 9400 is now defective I might hold out till October and see if this is going Nationwide.

I’m hoping for 6 but 4 is better than 2 that’s for sure.

I’ve currently got 4 receivers. 9400,6141,6131,6400 running off two DPP44. I’ve got a few extra lines and will be curious to see how I can add a 9500 to my setup. Once Visions gets them of course.

This may not even be for the masses as when I checked a few days ago there wasn’t a hint of them mentioned anywhere on the Website.

If it only has two tuners like reported. Probably Hopper lite as even the first hopper had 3 tuners and I’m not sure how it’s going to work with the add on 7500’s(joeys) as these use a tuner when in use in that case you’d be limited to one 7500 on at a time.

Is it verified that it’s only two tuners? I’m still hoping for more.

I think these new receivers are only for very small & Select areas as there is not a trace of these receivers listed on the website nor does anyone at Bell even know what I’m talking about when I asked them about it. Also Visions claims to know nothing of any new receivers coming from Bell at all.

That’s exactly what it is, The Dish Duo DVR. Bell wouldn’t even spring for the first gen Hopper with three tuners. The only upside to this is it will let you have two on one account and four tuners with whole home capabilities. From the looks of it anyway.

I think it’s something like this.

I think so. If a person wants two 9500 on your account in order to have them see each other and access the recordings off both receivers you’d need a duo hub. If you want to use the client that’s supposed to be coming out for this receiver then you’d need a single hub. I myself might pick up two 9500’s and a duo hub so I can have access to my main setup down stairs & upstairs with the other receivers in the kitchen & bedrooms separate.

Take this with a grain of salt. I was at Visions fist thing this morning and they assure me that they will have the 9500 in stock as early as next week or by the 2nd/3rd week of February. Hopefully this information is correct as I will not buy one from Bell.

The old 9242 was removed and the new 9500 installed, only HDMI, coax and power cables were required, no HD/SD splitter.

I thought the 9500 required a duo hybrid node in order to run two together?

I'm more than a little annoyed that it appears that I can only buy a 9500 through Bell direct. Visions don't have them either does the source at least here out west. I might have to buy one from Bell providing they don't insist on a truck roll as I always self install only. I've been running Dish ProPlus for years now so it should just be plug & play.

Asked the Bell installer and he said yup that's the deal.

Out of curiosity what did you need the installer for? Swapping an old receiver for a new one shouldn't need one Id think.

That makes sense. I already have a DPP Twin & Two DPP 44’s so I should be good then providing I can find a 9500 at a retail store like Visions.

I’m getting ready to purchase a 9500 from Bell online soon I don’t see any Duo Hub listed am I missing it or is there an outlet like the source that I can purchase it from? I’m already running DPP twin with two DPP 44’s so I will decline any offer of a truck roll. I guess I wouldn’t need the duo node right away but eventually I will run two 9500’s

A friend of mine has a 9242 that is constantly rebooting, if he buys a 9500 from the source can he just swap them out? I’d assume so. He also has a 9241,6131,5900 on different tvs. He shouldn’t need the node as he isn’t going to do whole home on it.

Thanks, I believe he is running a DPP Quad LNB

Maybe try setting up a manual timer for the second channel
