If that statement read 142 hours of *television* programming watched a month, that would sound a little too high, but if you add video games and movies to the equation, as 'sitting in front of a television' implies, that figure sounds about right.

We (my wife and I) watch about an hour's worth (42 minutes without commercials) pretty much every night, 90 minutes on weekends. Once a week or so add another 2 hours watching a movie with the kids. That's roughly 40-45 hours per month. We don't "game".

I thought we were about average. I guess we're not.

I'm doing my part -- the TV's on from 5pm - 11pm Monday to Friday. That's 132 hours a month. That include exercising, making and eating dinner, surfing the 'net, etc. There's even some shows I sit down and watch once they're recorded.
