I think somewhere there is an Archos 101 with my name on it! I really like my Nexus One phone, and I wouldn't mind a larger screened version for surfing while doing light TV watching. As long as the battery is half decent.

Me too! I was waiting for more of these - full Android 2.2 but without the phone. (Just like the iPod Touch is to the iPhone.)

I also want the 10" model but my only fear is the bad rap Archos has been getting; the majority seem to say their stuff is crap. I have seen some older media players in Best Buy or Futureshop but I never really checked them out...

Does Archos still charge for MPEG-2 playback? It would seem so.

A major negative with these Archos tablets is that they do not support the full Android market. So the available apps you can download are very limited.

Where did you read about the limited Android Market? Yes, that is a major negative for me too, although, realistically for my uses, it probably wouldn't matter too much. Rss feeder, browser, media player, a few silly games, Skype, and I would be pretty happy.

Though, apparently there are workarounds for getting Android Market apps on Archos tablets.

the new archos tablets won't have the same restrictions that the current/old ones did

they have cameras and fit the full google spec now

I was hyped at first but less so now...quality of Archos??? Is poor/bad??? Any advice/thoughts/experience would be appreciated!!!

Hardware quality is top notch. I've got an archos 5 android tablet. It's very stable, plays a TON more video codecs than my iPod. It'll handle 720p mkv fairly easy(unless crazy high bitrate)

Screen is miles better too. Not just bigger, but nicer brighter etc

The weak part has been android so far. I'm stuck on 1.6

The new froyo should be better
