from this Bloomberg Story

Viewers would be able to rent programs from News Corp.’s Fox for 48 hours, said the people, who declined to be identified because the discussions aren’t public.

....

Apple will introduce a new version of the Touch with a higher-resolution screen -- similar to the display featured on the iPhone 4 -- and a $99 version of its three-year-old Apple TV set-top box, one person said. The new Apple TV, which will have a smaller hard drive than the earlier version, is aimed at letting people stream content from iTunes, the person said.
The iPod Touch with retina display makes sense. The ATV sounds more evolutionary than revolutionary and TV rental seems pretty logical.

The article isn't speaking of other bits and pieces of rumors like the iTV (the renamed AppleTV) will be running iOS and will be able to run apps. This will be an interesting alternative to Google TV. You want HBO? Get their app and pay a fee. Channels will become apps and you'll be able to pay for just what you want.

i have to admit, I love my ipod touch, and I would gladly upgrade it for the dual cameras

I'd LOVE to have GPS on it as well (that would make it the perfect device for me) but having the cameras, upgraded cpu/ram/retina display will be enough to get me to add another touch, and pass the current one on to the missus

$0.99 TV show rentals would be a big plus for me. I'm currently spending about $25 per month on TV episodes, and my hard drive is starting to fill up with them. A rental option would be much more palatable.

Bigger for me, though, is the speculation that wireless syncing may be announced. It would be very nice to have my iPod Touches in the cars automatically sync when they come in range of the home wi-fi. That way I can "set it and forget it", and my smart playlists and new purchases would just appear on the car headunit without intervention.

Cameras don't interest me. Wireless syncing (and of course an SDHC slot) interest me.

Wireless syncing seems like such a huge miss right now for Apple. I can't believe they've gone this long without it, being that it's simply software.

Camera: meh.
SDHC: LOL! Not as long as S.Jobs and J. Ive have anything to say about it. :D

Syncing is hardly new or innovative technology.

I saw wireless syncing in 2003 at a CEDIA show in Orlando, with audio/video being synced to a media server in a Hummer H2 whenever the vehicle came within range of its home wifi.

Microsoft used to sell something called a Zune, and I think even that thing had wireless syncing.

Long, long overdue.
