Just a comment on my viewpad 7-

seems to work fine with a dataplan, but bell and rogers do not recognize
it as a "phone".

Though it works as a phone without a voice plan(as skype and as a phone), I am waiting for something official...

I've been using one for a couple months. I've used it primarily to post via twitter, facebook and websites for work, use as an ebook reader, watch videos, surf web, and use apps. Overall very impressed. When combined with unlocked sim card slot (can use Rogers card here in Canada, T-mobile card when in US, and O2 card when in UK) definitely worth the price. As I tell my friends it is a Galaxy Tab at like half the price. Only real downsides I've encountered thus far is no flash in websites, and speakers much to quiet, so use headphones.

As for using it as a phone. I've made some calls using my regular rogers phone sim card in it. Not why I bought it, so now just keep data cards in it.

Cheers,

Al.
