Hi, I just purchased a Monster M2000 HDMI cable, however tried hooking it up to my Sony Blu ray player and my Pioneer VSX920 receiver and I get no picture. Then tried hooking it up to my sons PS3 directly to another tv and all that comes up is "Invalid Format". Could it be a bad cable. Not too sure what else I can try. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

+1 on Monoprice. My old $50 cable from the source was giving me problems (TV would start giving "no signal") randomly. Replaced it with the Monoprice one for $3 and it's worked perfectly ever since.

I've ordered a total of 9 from Monoprice and all of those have worked flawlessly. And all have been the cheapest 28 AWG guage. Most expensive one was less than $5 for 12 feet.

Back to the original question: the only way to test it is to have it work reliably for a period of time. My old $50 one would work for up to a couple of hours and then I'd get "no signal". Sounds like that's your problem: try things with a different cable and if your PS3 and BD works then it must be the cable.

HDMI issues FAQ below - Pioneer AVRs often like to be turned on first.

Invalid Format
You may be trying to feed 1080P (or even 720P or 480i via HDMI) to a TV that doesn't accept that format via HDMI. Try setting the PS3 to 1080i since that's accepted by all HDTVs or try another HDMI cable - I assume you have another if you're going through an AVR.

As mentioned above, take back the Mon$ter if you spent more than say $20 - see the thread below:

How long is the cable?
How long is the cable from the AVR to the TV?
What gauge are they?
