Is anyone aware of any channel deals for existing customers?
I currently have basic cable with Rogers.

Would like to add some more channels.. anyone know of any deals / coupons / special offers (or even those that aren't advertised on Rogers website)?

Just wondering. Thanks,

I also want to know. We are planning to upgrade to VIP (from digital basic), I want to know if thers's specials, like the first few months at the basic price. I remember one of my friend get a 6 months of VIP at the basic price when she call to upgrade from analog to digital basic.

I am going back to basic at the end of this month and have kept tmn & mpix . I also got rid of Hd specialty pak which is not worth the price they want to charge. Vip contains a lot of channels that you never watch or use and therefore why even have it. I have TMN & MPIX which I do watch a lot more than mainstream tv and also still have a number of HD channels which come free when you purchase a HD box. You still get the timeshifitng ,music and a number of channels with basic and adding TMN or superchannel gives you movies and series and even more HD content.

Is it possible to get HD stations just by ordering basic cable from Rogers. All I want to do is plug the cable to the back of my Pioneer TV (Dual Tuner HD/SD) or do I require a basic HD box from Rogers? All I really care about is getting the major networks in HD (ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX).

Yes, you can get just Basic which will give you the basic HD channels. That's what I have. I hate having to be forced to get combo then get HD specialty for an extra $30. I dont care for Digital VIP because I only watch a handful of channels. Quality with value not quantity for me. I only pay for what I watch and nothing more. In summary, I have Basic, Goltv, Setanta and WOWtv. Still $50 on a 1yr 30% off retention deal. I have HDPVR 8300 which I bought a few years ago. Renting is costly. Best of luck and make sure you negotiate with the CSR and know what your highest price point is and stick with it. You will only get a deal if you ask !

I was offered 20% off for both cable and internet last year. It ended last Friday. Just called Rogers and asked for an extension of the offer. The lady offered me 25% off for internet and 50% off cable. I only have basic cable & internet express.

free equipment for 1 year

I just got Rogers to fully discount the rental fee for my HD-PVR and HD terminal for 1 year as a retention offer. I quoted the current deal from Bell TV for up to 3 years of free PVR rental.

I imagine you had to commit to the service for 2 or 3 years? Still, a great deal.
Can someone confirm if you have to commit to a 2 year term or 3 year term to get 20% or 30% off internet and cable as a retention offer?

Somewhat related: how do these retention offers work? Do you just call them up and ask for a discount rate?

Usually you have to commit for at least 1 year. Recently they've been extending this to 2 years - perhaps 3. You ask for the retentions or customer relations department because the regular CSRs don't have the authority to provide these offers. My 20% one year discount (internet and cable) was up recently and I called in and got it extended for 2 years.

My particular Rogers Home Phone Value plan doesn't qualify for discounts and neither does my $10/mo PayGo phone, but both are "well priced".

deal with Rogers

Hi all, I was considering moving my cable Tv and internet to Bell. I called Rogers to talk about it and they offered me the following deal. Let me know if its good or if I should ask for more.

TV
2 year contract. year1: 30% off. year2: 20% off.
free PVR Rental for year1. i forgot to ask if its the old model or the new one.

internet
right now I have the Express package (10Mbps, 512Kbps) and they are offering the Extreme package (15Mbps, 1Mbps) for 20% off for 1 year contract and free modem rental for 6 months.

what do you think of this?

Cable:
I retained my 1yr 20% off. I'll renegotiate next year again. I have no contract. Keep options open. If you are willing to go 2 yr contract, 30 - 20 is pretty good. But, try to go for 30% off 1 yr only. I own my own equipment (HDPVR SA8300) so if you are happy with Rogers go long term. I will move as soon as my 4yr old PVR breaksdown. Renting for 1yr free is great but time flies so dont be caught paying $25 (?) mth to rent when offer expires. Look for cheap deals (if any) periodically and christmas time. I think very very few actually pay $25 mth because they bought their own or have 1 yr or 2yr free. Renegotiate for free rental always or move. As for type of PVR- there has been no upgrades for the last few yrs on their best one HDPVR SA8300 - ask for HD, Dual Tuner and you'll be fine.

Internet:
I was also upgraded from Express to Extreme. Offered 1 yr deal 30% off. My bill was messed up because the credit would not go through. After speaking with 2 or 3 people for over 2hrs total, the last guy said all he can do is give me an instant 1 time rebate of $95 to cover the 10% for 12 mths and now I'm back to 20% off 1 year. Just check your next bill, because they have stopped giving 30% off 1 yr for Internet for the time being. Negotiate and demand 30% off and take the 10% rebate upfront. Say your friend got it so you want it too.

My son's deal was expiring. Rogers called and offered him 30 percent off his cable and internet on a one year deal. He said he would think about it. The next day after getting a thumbs up from me he said they called back but offered 40 percent off this time. He took it of course.
