When watching a movie on AMC HD if the original content is 4X3 I have noticed that they are stretching so that it will fit a 9:16 screen. I find this frustrating as not only do they stretch it but you use a non linear stretch. By doing this he picture is distorted its stretched badly at the sides and seems normal in the middle. the effect is as if everything is shot with a very wide angle lens. a distortion that probably make the original film maker cringe. Why don't they leave well enough alone. If I want it stretched I can with my TV settings.

I have sent them a letter but I doubt that they will respond or even care.

I guess they share the same thinking as the foolish folks at A&E HD in this regard. at least they use a linear stretch that my TV can undo.
