I see we now have channel 199 AMC. There's no channel name under the number and the grid says "to be announced" but I just turned it on and there it is.

I noticed it on Fri. I don't think it replaces any channel....it's new to Eastlink. I know other providers have been carrying it for awhile.

It was launched on Friday. Looks like they had/have some issues with the iguide portion (havn't checked to see if its resolved today).

This channel really needs a PVR to watch any movie... they turn a 2 hour movie into 3 hours with the excessive commercial count.

I do highly recommend Mad Men... and hope the HD version is not far behind.

Actually, according to their twitter account, it's currently in a free preview mode. Odd considering there's been no promotion at all for that free preview, which according to them started on the 22nd of this month.

From the sounds of the Twitter feed, only Sudbury and Halifax have it right now. I had received confirmation that Timmins was getting it on 196 also. I was shocked that we would get something at the same time as Sudbury...hasn't happened since 2001.

But...still not DCT or DVR "tunable" up here. The reason I say it that way is because my PC's TV tuner can see it in clear QAM since Friday evening.

I'm sorry. I meant that I hadn't seen any info on a free preview and also assumed that it would be added to a package, most likely the Movies Plus package given it's channel location and genre of programming, which I may not not subscribe to.

It's a waste watching movies on this channel. With all the commercials that run and all the edits for content they make it makes movies on this channel unwatchable unless it's a movie that doesn't need any editing like a kids movie otherwise it's a waste. it's just another TBS style superstation but with way more commercials.
