The latest Amazon tablets are now available for pre-order in the UK and Canada.

The Kindle Fire HD will be available starting on October 24 and the HDX will be shipping on November 26.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos explains why the new HD is a great bargain: "CDN$149 now gets you a 1280x800 216 ppi HD display, a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, Fire OS 3.0, dual speakers with Dolby audio, vast selection and Amazon-exclusive features. We're excited to offer customers this great hardware at a breakthrough price."

The all-new Kindle Fire HDX comes in either a 7-inch model for $254 or an 8.9-inch HDX model for $399 with each featuring a quad-core 2.2 GHz processor, 11 hours of battery life and dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio. Weighing in at a mere 374 grams, the 8.9-inch HDX is the lightest large-screen tablet available and is equipped with a new 8 megapixel rear-facing camera for crisp photos and 1080p HD video.

There are several new enterprise features including hardware and software-encryption, Kerberos Intranet, secure WiFi connections, VPN integration and wireless printing.
