Allstream has joined Arbor Networks Cloud Signaling Coalition (CSC) to help prevent distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

The CSC consists of service providers, data center operators and enterprises determined to keep their network infrastructure running 24X7 and speed time-to-mitigation for DDoS attacks.

Allstream's participation in the CSC will give customers more tools and proactive ways to block harmful traffic without impeding legitimate traffic.

The CSC provides access to real-time monitoring of the attack mitigation and post-mortem reports with details of the attack and the steps taken to prevent it.

This adds to Allstream's managed IP solutions designed to maximize network performance, prevent cybercrime and improve business continuity.

"We are dedicated to helping IT professionals evolve with rapidly changing technological demands while maintaining network performance at maximum levels," said Jim DeMerlis, Vice President of Marketing at Allstream.

He continues: "As DDoS attacks become more complex, enhanced network security becomes imperative. Our involvement in Arbor's Cloud Signaling Coalition is just another example of how Allstream is committed to our customers' network security."

In addition, Allstream has just released an educational video series titled: "DDoS Attacks - Understanding the business impacts and methods for mitigating the risks".

The videos deal with all aspects of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks -- what they are, how they are evolving and who is behind them.

Burlington, MA-based, Arbor Networks combines a darknet sensor network with traffic data from more than 200 service provider customers around the world, which enables the CSC partners access to a unique, globally-scoped view of malicious traffic traversing the Internet.
