I ordered ultra max and they said i get full install since they need to test the line.
Does full install mean the tech will put the free security services (aka crappy AV software etc.?) if so can i just not get that part done? OR do they let you do the modem install and they just test the phone line to make sure you can reach ultra max speed?

Does the router they rent with the service able to just function as a modem? I find my current router very good with wireless access and all the functions (tomato firmware) ...

The tech will setup everything up to the modem. He won't touch your computer. You're going to hate the new HUGE modem. The biggest problem is it doesn"t support bridge mode. I couldn't get DMZ working either.

Good luck, I hope yours works better than :)

remember, in a few short weeks, FiberOp will be available in Moncton.
Yeah but im in an apt. building and it has a lot of units... considering they supposedly only do 6 units and less first... by the time it's available in my building, ill either have moved or will have done at least 12-24 months of dsl

Nope, they did the whole thing, including my computer...
I got a Siemens modem... they didn't leave me the password for my account so i'm guessing i just have to call in and ask for a new one if i want to use my old router...

EDIT : or are those modem already setup to dial out even if i set them up without dhpc... basically do i need to use a pppoe client on my older router?
EDIT EDIT : meh i DMZ'ed to my older router and plugged everything in that
