Finally finished the basement, adding a new TV, and now need a receiver.

Looking for the 9242, but they are definetly harder to come by these days.

If I activate a used 9200, does anyone know what they'll be doing to existing customers when BEV does the switch to MPEG 4?
Or will I be SOL.

Any rumors as to when the switch will happen?

Thanks in advance

No. Last time they changed something that made older receivers obsolete, they gave everyone who had the old receivers a new one. However, there are probably 10x more 6100/9200s that will become obsolete when they switch to MPEG4, so who knows, although they'll have to do something to avoid too much "attrition".

Lots of threads on this - just search. IIRC, some Bell VP did an interview a few years ago and suggested the changeover was supposed to happen by the end of this year. Can't see THAT happening, but maybe next year - Bell needs to go MPEG4 pretty soon, as they have virtually no sat capacity for new HD channels and they're already lagging behind the other cable/sat cos.
