My wife has been dropping hints lately that she likes those tiny MP3 players. I figure with Christmas just around the corner it can be no coincidence. ;)

Anyway the number of portable MP3 players out there is staggering. I notice the Benq units have external flash memory. What exactly is that? I am aware of all the ones that take SD, MMC and memory stick. I think the idea of being able to bump up the memory to 512 MB whilst keeping the size and power requirements to a minimum is great.

Any best buys out there fellas?

Go the extra mile and get her the ipod mini - a little bit bigger than the flash memory things, but so much more versatile and user-friendly.

She'll be happy, which in turn, can result in you "getting happy" ;)

or maybe try a creative zen micro, the same size as an ipod mini, with more colours to choose from and 5GB instead of 4.

You also get a lot of included accessories, a built in FM tuner, the ability to record off the fm radio, and removable batteries

I got my fiancee an iPod mini for her birthday and she loves it. Hands down one of the easiest portable music players around.

When you order from the Apple store online you can have two lines of text laser inscribed on the back, definitely a good opportunity to score some long lasting brownie points :)

Thanks for the tips on the minis and the zen. I should look into thoses. I wonder how easy navigation is on the flash players? The buttons are tiny.
